Financial Reports

The City of Nixa Finance Department has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 by the Government Finance Officers Association. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. The City of Nixa 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021 annual reports have been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the annual reports.

Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has also given an Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting to The City of Nixa for its Popular Annual Financial Reports for the fiscal years of 2020 and 2021. The Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting is a prestigious national award recognizing conformance with the highest standards for the preparation of state and local government popular reports. In order to receive an Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting, a government unit must publish a Popular Annual Financial Report, whose contents conform to program standards of creativity, presentation, understandability, and reader appeal. A government must first earn the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the same fiscal year in order to be eligible to earn the PAFR award. An Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting is valid for a period of one year only.

Guide to City Finances

The Guide to City Finances is designed to be easy for the average citizen to read and understand. It includes the same information from the prior year’s PAFR while adding information about the current year’s budget and information about projects we are planning for future years. This document also adds different views of data analysis which are not included in the standard PAFR format.

Popular Annual Financial Reports

The PAFR documents are designed to provide a brief overview of the prior year’s actual revenues and spending. It also includes brief explanations to help those without a background in finance gain a basic understanding of where the city gets money, how we organize our accounts, and how we actually spent our money in the prior year.

Annual Comprehensive Financial Reports

The ACFR documents are designed to provide in-depth data and comparative analysis for the prior year’s actual revenues & expenses and in some charts, provides comparisons to prior years. This is the most in-depth or “comprehensive” financial reporting we publish on an annual basis.
