Police Lobby Safe Haven

The Nixa Police Department has established an after-hours lobby “SAFE HAVEN” environment within the exterior lobby of the police department headquarters.

The exterior lobby has 24-hour video surveillance, which is monitored by 9-1-1 and the Nixa Police Department.

Additionally, an emergency “RED PHONE” is mounted to a wall just inside the front door and will connect a citizen directly to 9-1-1 without having to dial any numbers – simply pick up the phone and it will call 9-1-1 for you.

Finally, in the unlikely event that a citizen comes to the police department needing to escape imminent harm or facing an otherwise threatening situation, they can securely lock themselves inside the lobby, by pushing the red lever up to lock the door until police arrive. Responding officers can enter the lobby from three different directions, and at any time the citizen has the option to release the lock and leave the secure facility.
