Justin Orf, representing District 3, is the youngest person to ever serve on Nixa City Council. Born in St. Louis, Justin’s family moved to Nixa when he was very young. Justin attended Nixa’s renowned school system from kindergarten through high school graduation. He studied civil engineering and political science at Missouri State University. Justin is currently working as an Engineer Intern for CJW Transportation Consultants, LLC.
Justin says he loves Nixa because it is easy to get involved, “I love how we have a small town feel with huge opportunities.”
Interested in politics from a young age, Justin says he has a desire to serve his community. This desire drove his campaign to run for council. “I love helping resolve issues and I hope to inspire other young people to take an interest in what is going on in their communities and country. Hopefully my generation will let its voice be heard instead of staying home on election days.”
Justin is the second person in Christian County to become a Certified Municipal Official through the Missouri Municipal League. His top priorities are more sidewalks, an inclusive park, and helping keep utility costs low. “I’d also like to see Nixa become an area where people can work in technology careers. I want to see an abundance of quality employment opportunities in Nixa so we can be more than just a bedroom community,” Justin says.
Upon joining council, Justin says he was, “surprised to see how well the city staff work together, and the vision they have for the city. Sometimes government seems broken and inefficient, but this is not the case in Nixa.”
Justin says his favorite moments on council so far have been proclamations supporting awareness of Autism and Down Syndrome. “Being able to help them by showing support really makes time on council worthwhile," says Orf.
