I can hear my kids now – “We get it dad, you have lived in Nixa FOREVER!” But I am of an age where I am starting to look back at the past with a more nostalgic lens.

As I have watched the old Parks building be torn down over the last couple of weeks, I can’t help but to think back to “the Nixa of my youth.” Back then, that building was the be all end all of Nixa government.

It was the City Hall, Fire Department, Police Department and utilities office. One of my first memories of Nixa happened just a short way from there – winning the Sucker Day cake walk – back when the entire Mt. Vernon and Main Street intersection was completely shut down and we got out of school for Sucker Day.
