Letter from the Mayor: February 2026
February 4, 2026
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
As I write this month’s letter, I’m reminded once again why I’m so proud to serve as your Mayor. The recent snowstorm tested our community, and you responded exactly as I knew you would—with hard work, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to taking care of one another.
First, I want to express my deepest gratitude to our city staff who worked tirelessly to keep Nixa safe. Our street department, along with volunteers from various other departments, kept the snow plows running around the clock. These men and women sacrificed time with their families, battled exhaustion, and braved dangerous conditions to ensure our roads were clear and passable. Their dedication to this community is nothing short of extraordinary.
I also want to recognize our Nixa Police Officers who worked throughout the storm to keep our city safe and assist motorists in need. Whether it was helping someone stuck on an icy road or responding to emergencies in treacherous conditions, they were there—just as they always are.
A special thank you to our amazing Communications Department for keeping everyone informed with timely updates throughout the storm. In situations like these, accurate and reliable information is critical, and they made sure our citizens had what they needed to stay safe and make informed decisions.
But what truly warmed my heart during this cold snap was watching our community come together. I heard countless stories of neighbors helping neighbors—and even complete strangers—clear driveways and sidewalks. That’s Nixa. That’s who we are. People helping people. It’s the foundation of what makes our community special, and it’s what will continue to make Nixa a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family.
Thank you all for showing what it means to be part of this community. I’m honored to serve you.
Sincerely,
Jarad Giddens
Mayor, City of Nixa
