Experience Required: Minimum 3+ years of previous professional experience in a public relations role required. FEMA Public Information Officer training qualification preferred.
Minimum Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in public relations, Strategic Communications, or a related field required
Direct Supervisor: Assistant City Administrator
Supervisory Responsibility: Yes
Primary Work Location: City facilities, grounds, and worksites within the City jurisdiction.
Certification: Valid State of Missouri driver’s license; possess Missouri Registered Professional Engineer credentials.
Salary: $78,852.80 to $85,945.60 per year
Job Summary: The Director of Communications position reports to the Assistant City Administrator and will facilitate all aspects of the coordination, planning, writing, and distribution of strategic mass communications of all formats through various channels to both internal and external audiences. This position will also represent the City to the news media in accordance with public relations best practices. This is an important role that requires knowledge of journalistic ethics, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
