Dr. Gearl Loden named Nixa Citizen of the Year

March 31, 2022

The 2021 Citizen of the Year, Nixa School Superintendent Dr. Gearl Loden, worked tirelessly to protect both our students and our community throughout the pandemic, while also making sure Nixa was the first school district in the state to return to in-person education after the initial school closings.  He has done all of this while also continuing to increase student performance – resulting in Nixa being ranked among the top 6 school districts in Missouri.

He has also supported the city by leading the school district’s efforts to improve our community and enhance economic development.  These enhancements not only help students, but bring additional people to Nixa to shop and eat, building up our local businesses.  With the upgrades to Eagle Stadium and the addition of the Aetos Performing Arts Center, Nixa will be a destination for thousands of additional shoppers over the coming years.

Dr. Gearl Loden has shown his dedication to continue Nixa Public Schools’ commitment to “Excellence in Action”.

Each year, the City of Nixa honors one Nixa resident as the Nixa Citizen of the Year. Nixa city leadership select the winner of this award based on partnership with the municipal government to lead and improve the Nixa community. Mayor Brian Steele delivered the remarks above at the Nixa Chamber of Commerce’s annual Nixie Awards banquet, but, as Dr. Loden was not able to attend, the award was finally presented to Dr. Loden at the Nixa Chamber Luncheon in March.
