Recycle Center
The City of Nixa Recycling Center is open to residents who live inside Nixa city limits and is not available for use by commercial businesses. Those that live outside the City of Nixa boundaries (but still have a Nixa telephone prefix of 724 or 725) may obtain a Recycle Center permit City Hall. The permit costs $36 a year and entitles the holder to limited use of the recycling facilities. Permit holders will not have access to the yard waste area.
The money collected from recycled aluminum cans dropped off at the Nixa Recycle Center is donated to the Nixa American Legion Post 434.
Hours of Operation:
Summer hours (Memorial Day through Labor Day): Mondays 8:00am-4:15pm; Tuesday-Friday 7:00am-5:30pm; Saturday 7:00am-6:00pm
Winter hours (Labor Day through Memorial Day): 8:00am – 4:15pm
Closed on Sundays & designated holidays
Accepted Items:
- Aluminum beverage cans (cleaned and flattened)
- Cardboard (broken down)
- Dryers
- Glass (no lead crystal, light bulbs, or ceramic mugs)
- Magazines (don’t put in plastic bag)
- Metal cans (cleaned and labels removed)
- Newspapers (don’t bundle or tie)
- Phone books (don’t put in plastic bag)
- Plastic bottles (cleaned and caps removed; such as soda bottles, milk jugs, laundry detergent bottles, butter tubs, etc.)
- Stoves
- Washers
- Water heaters
Not Accepted Items:
- A/C condenser units
- Aerosol cans
- aluminum foil
- Animals, dead or alive
- Automotive fluid
- Batteries
- Box springs
- Bubble wrap
- Carpet (scraps or rolls)
- Chemicals or. hazardous waste materials
- Computers or electronics
- Construction or building materials
- Foil baking pans, disposable
- Freezers
- Furnitire
- Mattresses
- Metal scraps
- Microwaves
- Paint
- Pet food cans
- Plastic grocery bags
- Plastic wrap
- Propane Tanks
- Refrigerators
- Syrofoam
- Tarps
- Televisions
- Tires

Accepted Yard Waste Items:
- Brush trimmings
- Grass clippings
- Leaves
- Tree limbs, NOT logs (less than 6ft long)
