Letter from the Mayor: October 2026
Letter from the Mayor: October 2026
October 16, 2026
This month I want to talk about something that touches every one of us, whether we realize it or not: economic development and the importance of shopping local.
Every time you make a purchase here in Nixa, the sales tax from that transaction stays right here at home. Because our city operates primarily on sales tax revenue, those local purchases are what allow us to invest in the things that make Nixa a great place to live: well-maintained infrastructure, strong public safety, beautiful parks, and reliable electric, water, and sewer service. When you choose to shop local, you aren’t just supporting a business owner. You’re investing in your own community. So the next time you’re picking up dinner, grabbing a gift, or running errands, I encourage you to try one of our local businesses first.
If you follow the Nixa Area Chamber of Commerce, you’ve probably noticed a lot of ribbon cuttings lately. I have to tell you, I am always honored and thrilled when I hear about another one. To me, every ribbon cutting is a sign that we have something special here in Nixa, special enough that someone chooses to invest in our city, whether by opening a new business or expanding an existing one. That kind of confidence in our community is something we should never take for granted.
Your municipal government works hard every day to create a welcoming, desirable place to live, work, and play. But the truth is, what makes Nixa so special is its people. Thank you all for making Nixa what it is today.
October is a busy month around town, and I hope to see many of you at the Halloween Spooktacular, sponsored by Mac Dental, on Friday, October 23rd, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at McCauley Park. Bring the kids, bring your costumes, and come enjoy a fun evening together. Looking ahead, please join us as we honor those who have served our country at our Veterans Day Ceremony on Saturday, November 7th, at 9:00 a.m. at The X Center. To stay up to date on everything happening in Nixa, be sure to follow the City of Nixa on Facebook and Instagram.
And mark your calendars: next month’s letter will be my annual State of the Community Address. I look forward to sharing our ongoing success with all of you.
It is truly an honor to serve as your Mayor. Thank you for helping make Nixa the best place to call home.
Sincerely,
Mayor Jarad Giddens
