Letter from the Mayor: August 2026
August 7, 2026
My Fellow Nixa Citizens,
It’s hard to believe summer is winding down already — before we know it, the pools will close, the school supply lists will be checked twice, and our kids will be heading back to the classroom. Where does the time go?
With the new school year approaching, I want to ask every driver in Nixa for a little extra patience and awareness on the road. Students will be walking to school, waiting at bus stops, and crossing streets during the morning and afternoon rush. Please slow down, watch for kids in crosswalks and neighborhoods, and give our school buses the room and respect they need to do their job safely. A few extra minutes of patience on your commute can make all the difference in keeping our students safe. Our Nixa Police Department will be patrolling and watching all the areas around our schools and crosswalks.
On the city side, we’ve been hard at work moving forward on the projects that we budgeted and planned for this year. Crews continue to make progress on road, sidewalk, water, sewer, and electric infrastructure improvements across Nixa, and construction on our new police department headquarters is coming along very well. These are investments in the long-term safety and growth of our city, and I’m proud of the progress we’re making together.
As always, I encourage you to stay connected and informed. Follow the City of Nixa on social media, check our website for updates, and consider attending a City Council meeting or watching it on our YouTube channel to see your local government in action.
Thank you for being part of what makes Nixa such a great place to call home. Here’s to a safe and successful start to the school year.
Proud to serve Nixa,
Jarad Giddens
Mayor, City of Nixa
