Letter from the Mayor: September 2025
August 29, 2025
Dear Nixa Residents,
As we settle into September and the rhythm of a new school year, I’m pleased to share updates on several important matters affecting our community.
School Year Success: A Community Effort
The new school year has begun successfully in Nixa, and I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to our dedicated teachers, administrators, and support staff who work tirelessly to provide excellent education for our children.
I am especially grateful to both the Nixa Police Department and the Nixa Schools Police Department for their outstanding work in keeping our students safe. Their increased presence in school zones, vigilant monitoring of traffic patterns, and quick response to any concerns have been instrumental in creating a secure learning environment for our children.
Equally important, I want to thank our citizens for their exceptional attention to school zone safety. Your careful driving, respect for reduced speed limits, and awareness of pedestrian traffic have made a significant difference in keeping our students safe as they walk and bike to school. This community-wide commitment to safety is what makes Nixa special.
The city has also completed several infrastructure improvements over the summer that will benefit our school communities, including sidewalk repairs and improved lighting at key intersections. These investments reflect our commitment to creating safe pathways for our students. We will continue to identify and budget other areas of concerns for lighting and sidewalks.
Celebrating Our Community Spirit
As we move through September, our parks and recreational facilities continue to provide wonderful opportunities for families to enjoy the beautiful fall weather that’s approaching. Don’t forget to mark your calendars for our upcoming Multicultural Festival – we are ready to make this year’s event the best yet, and you can find all the details in this newsletter.
Looking Ahead
As always, I encourage you to stay engaged with city government by attending our council meetings and following our official communications. Your input and participation make Nixa the exceptional community we all love.
Thank you for making Nixa a place we’re all proud to call home.
Mayor Jarad Giddens
