Power Outage April 5, 2024
April 5, 2024
UPDATE 4/5/2024 7:40pm: Nixa Utilities crews believe they have restored power to all customers by changing feeder circuits over to get power from the downtown substation which gets transmission from different sources. If you are still without power at 8pm then call 417-725-3229 to report your outage to our call out service.
Once CU is able to restore their transmission line to Nixa, we will be able to shift load back to the Northeast substation, hopefully tomorrow.
ORIGINAL MESSAGE 4/5/2024 5:35pm: Nixa Utilities are aware of a significant power outage and are working with CU of Springfield to resolve the issue.
What we know so far:
- City Utilities of Springfield notified us the transmission line to Nixa is without power.
- We are waiting for an update from CU regarding when power transmission from CU to Nixa Utilities will resume.
- In the meantime, this means all customers who get their power through Nixa’s Northeast Substation are currently without power.
- Nixa Utilities electric crews are working to try to re-route power to these customers through a different substation while we await solution to CU’s issue on the transmission line which provides power to Nixa’s Northeast substation.
- Nixa Utilities currently has the Tracker 3 feeder assigned to the Northeast substation (because the Tracker substation is down for maintenance) which means customers including Walmart which draw from that feeder are also impacted.
- At this time we estimate this outage is currently impacting approximately 2,217 customers.
Customers do not need to notify us about outages at their address at this time because we are aware of the situation and working with CU to resolve it.
At this point, we do not yet have an estimate of how long before power will be restored.
