Medicine Take Back event

Don't be an accidental drug dealer. It’s not a good idea to keep unwanted or expired medications because people may steal prescription medicines from your cabinets. However, it is also not safe to flush medications down the drain or to dump them in the trash because they can poison our streams, rivers, and water supply. This is why Nixa Police offer a couple of medicine take back events each year.

Nixa Police will be hosting a medicine take back event at the Nixa Walgreens from 10am-2pm on Saturday Oct. 26, 2019.

Anyone can drop off expired, unused, or unwanted medicines in pill or liquid form.

We cannot accept any needles, infectious waste, or aerosol cans.

Nixa Police and the Nixa Walgreens are partnering together for this event as part of the DEA's National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

In April of 2019, Nixa Police collected 306 pounds of medication.
