The Water Source
The City of Nixa owns all water system development in the City, along with approximately 100 residences and businesses outside the City limits. There are 14 full time employees that maintain the water system. The City’s water source is groundwater, drawn from six wells tapped into a deep aquifer, ranging from 1251 feet to 1700 feet deep. The groundwater meets all state standards for potable water with the only treatment provided by fluoridation. The water system also includes five elevated storage towers. A new well in the NW part of Nixa has been completed also.
Wastewater Treatment

The existing treatment facility consists of an oxidation ditch, activated sludge UV Disinfection and a peak flow clarifier basin. The current plant is currently treating close to 1,200,000 gallons per day. All but one of the City subdivisions are served by the wastewater system. All new development is required to connect to the public wastewater system.
