Additionally, the Public Works department also provides equipment and vehicle maintenance for other City departments, storage of utility equipment and utility mapping for the organization. Quick Info for ResidentsTree Trimming:Since late 2006, the City Electric Department has employed a full time crew that takes care of trimming trees and limbs from in and around City Electric lines. Residents who would like to have the crew asses the need to trim limbs or remove trees from their power lines can contact the Electric Department at 417-725-2353. An appointment can be arranged for one of our crew members will come to the residence and speak with the property owner to determine the best course of action. Streetlight Out?The City Electric Department is responsible for maintaining and replacing Streetlights throughout the community. If you have a streetlight that is flickering or out completely, please call the Electric Department at 417-725-2353 to report it. We will take the information and pass it along to the crews for repair or replacement. Although streetlight repair isn’t as high of a priority as maintaining the power lines, it is important to the department and they can always use the help from citizens in reporting lights that need maintenance. Getting ready to Dig?Commonly, residents like to embark on home improvement projects around the house, such as installing new fencing, a pool or other landscaping on their property. The City would like to take this opportunity to remind residents that before they dig or excavate for such projects, they need to have all underground utilities marked to avoid damage as a result of construction. Residents can call Missouri One Call at 1-800-DIG-RITE or 1-800-344-7483 to arrange for the member utilities, including cable, phone and gas as well as City Electric and water, to come and mark these underground lines. Missouri One Call can also be accessed on the web at www.mo1call.com. The cost is free to the resident in both cases. Additionally, the Public Works staff often get calls from residents concerning colored paint markings or flags that appear on their property. When the City needs to do any maintenance or repair we generate a ticket with Missouri One Call and have all utilities located. However, there are numerous other companies, contractors and utilities that also require the services of the Missouri One Call system when they have repair work to do. In this case, the City would not know the reason for the repair. The resident can call Missouri One Call directly and speak to them about who might have requested the locates and what sort of work has been scheduled. Reminder:While the Public Works Department maintains the City infrastructure, we don’t handle the accounting and billing process. To inquire about your utility bill or other accounting issues, please call the Utility Office at 725-3229. |
