Salary and Benefits
Salary:Entry wage for police officers is $14.25 per hour ($29,640 annually). Police Officers work 4/10 hr. days, rotating shifts, holidays and weekends. Tuition Reimbursement:Employees with a minimum of 1 year full time employment are eligible and must receive approval from the Department Head prior to enrollment. Courses must be relevant to their current or expected job path and a final grade of B or above must be earned to receive reimbursement. No reimbursement will be made for fees, books, supplies, etc. Reimbursement will be based on Missouri State University 's on campus credit hour rate. Health Insurance:Health insurance is available through the City of Nixa . The City pays the employee’s premium and 65% of dependent coverage. Dental Insurance:Dental Insurance is available for all full-time employees and their dependents. The City pays the employee and dependent premiums. Life Insurance:The City of Nixa provides life insurance for full-time employees and their dependents: employee - $25,000, spouse - $5,00 and $2,500 per child. Vision Insurance:A reimbursement vision plan is available for all full-time employees and their dependents. The City pays the employee and dependent premiums. Vacation:1 year – 1 week, 2-4 years – 2 weeks, 5-9 years – 3 weeks, 10+ years – 4 weeks Paid Holidays:11 holidays per year Personal Day:1 day per year Sick Leave:80 hours per year Retirement:Mandatory retirement system requiring 4% of employee’s wage contribution (LAGERS). The City also contributes to the retirement pool at X% of employee’s wages. Vested in plan after 5 years. Uniforms and Equipment:City of Nixa provides all uniforms and equipment except footwear.
