Electric Department
Supervisor Brian Denney |
||
| STAFF - The Electric Distribution Department is staffed with 13 full time positions, including: Superintendent, Lead Linemen, Linemen, Apprentice, Groundmen, and Tree Trimmers. The staff maintains all aspects of the distribution of electricity including operations and maintenance functions, as well as new line construction both above and below ground. SYSTEM - The distribution system is supplied from the Southwest Power Administration through a single 69 kV transmission line. Currently, plans are underway to add a second, separate feeder line which will add reliability to the system and supply necessary power for load increases as growth continues. Feed power voltages are reduced through three substations and provided to residential and commercial transformers at 7200 volts. In addition to plans for a second feeder, the City is planning the construction of a 69,000 volt transmission loop around the City to increase reliability and supply primary feed to new substations as required. This overall project is planned over a 10+ year period when load growth is expected to almost double that of today. |
