Classes

Private Dutch Oven Cooking Clinic

Nixa Parks and Recreation is offering private group Dutch Oven cooking classes. You tell us when and what type of menu you want to cook and we will get you set up. If you have Scout troops, church groups, outdoor groups, families or just a bunch of friends who want to learn the art of Dutch Oven cooking and our regular class times don't fit your schedule give us a call. We will get you set up with a private lesson. Call us at 725-5486 for more information or to get your group registered.

Private Archery Class - Nixa Parks and Recreation is offering private archery classes. You tell us when and how many sessions you want to have (up to 4 one hour sessions) and we will get it set up. If you have Scout troops, church groups, outdoor groups, families or just a bunch of friends who want to learn how to shoot a bow and arrow then contact us. We teach archery using the well proven National Archery in the Schools Program format shooting Genesis compound bows. All private classes are $20 per participant and must have a minimum of 3 participants.

Beginning Archery Class - The Nixa Parks and Recreation Department is offering a Beginning Archery Class. Class dates are June 7-10 9:00 to 10:00 AM. Boys and girls in 4th grade through 12th grade are welcome to participate. Class content, equipment and teaching methods are based on the National Archery in the Schools Program. Cost is $15 per shooter. Registration ends on June 1. If your child is looking for a lifetime recreation activity in a safe environment (over 4 million kids have participated in NASP with no injuries) archery may be for them. For more information call

NASP Aftershool Archery

Senior Exercise

Classes are held at the Nixa Senior Center on September 9-May 8, at 9:30 am. Classes are free.

Zumba Fitness Classes

Classes at the Nixa Community Center at 9:30 am on Monday and Wednesday and 4:30 pm on Monday and Thursday. Classes are open to anyone 13 years or older. The cost per month for unlimited classes is $20.00 for residents and $24.00 for non-residents. Daily fees are $6/person. Contact Park Department for more information or to register.

Martial Arts Classes

The Nixa Community Center is offering martial artsclasses on Thursdays from 6:00-7:00 PM. Instructor Larry Owen will teach the Youn Wha Ryu system of martial arts which is an advanced system of fighting techniques from almost every style of martial arts. Due to its complexity, Tae Kwon Do is integrated into the teaching system of Youn Wha enabling students to develop a higher degree of speed, balance, control and confidence.
Classes must be paid for in one month blocks which cost $25 per month. Initial enrollment cost is $50, this payment covers the cost of your uniform and the first months class fee.
